there came a point where Christianity began to demonize the natural-world. anything worldly became evil. anything unworldly became good. Witches were hunted not for “black magic” but for gathering in groups outdoors- for promoting the natural-world(herbal medicine, etc.). here we see the furthest evolution of this mentality.
