How to Optimize Your Blog Post in a Search Engine

]]>

When you think about writing a blog, which do you think is more important?

• Focusing on the content that you’re sharing with readers, expecting that people will read your blogs because of the quality and value your blogs provide.

• Concentrating on how your blog will rank in the search engines and cramming every relatable keyword possible into your post.

Writing for the person is much more important than writing for the search engines. Your blog should demonstrate your expertise to your target niche and convey your passion for what you’re doing. It should come from your heart. That is how you will connect with your readers and why they will share your blog with their network.

That doesn’t mean that SEO isn’t important, however. Offering quality and value in your content won’t do any good if people can’t readily find it.

Optimize your blog for SEO purposes with links. Be sure to include proper links to legitimate, respected sites; don’t just buy links or list them in directories.

Another way to help your blog rank higher on search engines is to add tags. This is something overlooked by many people, but there is real value in tags.

Adding tags is a relatively simple process. If you are using WordPress, look for the tags link, then click “create” under tags. Type your tag, which is basically your description of your post, into that little area.

If, for example, I were to write a post about the top 30 Internet coaches, I would list each person’s name in that area. That will show Google – or other search engines – that information about that particular person is going to appear in my blog post. The search engine will actually create a category of sorts about the person. People looking up that person will see all the posts online about them,  including mine.

Yanik Silver, one of my mentors who has hundreds of thousands of followers, was tagged by blogging entrepreneur Michael Dunlop in a post about the top 30 things to do before you die. Yanik runs Maverick Business Adventures, a wonderful company that offers unique trips around the world to people with plenty of money to take them.

In his adventure program, Yanik offers one of the top 30 things Michael writes about in his blog. That is why Michael tagged him. Michael’s blog ranked seventh in search engines when people looked up Yanik, which drew an incredible amount of traffic to his site.

All he did was add the tag. This is something you can do with every post. If you tag the name of a prominent person because they are relevant to the blog you’ve written and the niche you’re writing for, more people searching for that person will have the opportunity to come across your post.

So, post a list on your next blog, and tag the names on it. It will give your post a higher ranking, maybe on the first page on Google. It’s an easy way to draw traffic. And, in many instances, because that traffic will be people in your target niche, they will probably be interested in what you have to offer.

How To Optimize Your Blog For Search Engines

11:19 pm by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

Many clients ask me how to drive more traffic to their blogs. By now you have probably heard that blogs are an excellent resource to get leads as well as clients for your business. The best way to do that is by creating search engine friendly blog posts that get indexed in search engines. When people search for information on topics you discuss in your blog it appears on the search engine result pages. Potential customers then are able to read what you have to say and get on your mailing list.

So now it all boils down to techniques that help you effectively optimize your blog for search engines. Here are tips and ideas to do just that:

Create A Keyword Rich Header For Your Blog. The header repeats on all pages on the blog. By making sure that your header contains targeted keywords, you are able to get more of your blog pages indexed in search engines.

Treat Each Blog Post As A Separate, Optimizable Page. Use the process of search engine optimization on each blog post. This means that you need to create an optimized title for each post, find targeted keywords for each post and weave the keywords into your post’s text.

Make Sure That Each Blog Post’s File Name Are Descriptive. Different blogging software behaves differently, but some will call your blog posts 2.html, 3.html, 4.html, etc. As you can see, that is not very descriptive and not particularly helpful to either people or search engines. When you create a post called “How Coaching Helps Business Owners”, calling it “how-coaching-helps-business-owners.html” is a much better title than “5.html”

Make sure that your blogging software creates descriptive file names for your blog posts; it is better both for human readers and search engine spiders.

Get Links Pointing To Your Blog. Quality links to your blog means more blog visitors and higher search engine rankings. Current search engine algorithms value links to your blog, which means that having links pointing to your blog will improve your blog’s search engine rankings.

Get Your Blog Listed in Blog Directories. Blog directories are a great source of getting unidirectional links to your blog. Since blog directory links many times are unidirectional (they link to you, but you don’t link back to them), they are great for boosting your search engine rankings. Having many unidirectional links pointing to your web site will improve your search engine rankings.

A blog is an excellent marketing tool, but your blog will not attract more leads and clients for your business if you don’t use search engine optimization techniques to optimize your blog and attract targeted search engine traffic to it.

How to Optimize Your WordPress Blog

10:54 pm by admin. Filed under: Uncategorized

WordPress is the most popular platform of blogging on the internet. Almost all bloggers who are making money blogging are using it. So if you want to take first place and make more money by blogging, you should learn how to optimize your blog. In this article, I will talk about how to optimize your WordPress blog in 7 ways.

1. Optimize your WordPress permalinks.

This is the first step when you creating a WordPress blog. The default permalink is not very good for Google and you can edit it easily. Clicking on the Settings->Permalinks menu in the WordPress dashboard and then use a custom setting such asyourdomainname.com/category/postname. This will mean that your blog post category and title will appear in the URL rather than a number.

2. Install the All in One SEO Pack (or a another similar plugin)

The plugin is suitable for beginners who want to optimize their WordPress blogs. I think it is the best plugin for Seo. The plugin allows you to add a custom title, Meta description and keyword tags for your home page and blog posts.

3. Optimize each blog post for a low competition long tail keyword phrase.

Do a litte keyword research before you make a blog post. Find a low amount of competition by visiting the Google AdWords keyword tool. Ideally this phrase will have just a few hundred monthly searches rather than a few thousand monthly searches. Use a different keyword phrase for every blog post that you make and put the keyword phrase in the blog post title and 2-3 times throughout the post.

4. Book mark each post by using Social Bookmarking services.

Submit your blog url to a social bookmarking service like Digg or Delicious. It will take additional traffic to your blog and give a backlink to your blog post.

5. Optimize the home page of your blog.

Generally, your homepage get more traffic than other pages in your blog. Optimizing your homepage can increase the number of visitors. Pick 1-2 keyword phrases for your home page using a keyword research tool such as the Google AdWords keyword tool and choose one or two phrases that are related to your niche. Ideally these phrases should get a few thousand searches per month and the competition shouldn’t be too tough. Ensure that you include these keyword phrases are mentioned in the TITLE tag, Meta description and throughout the permanent content of your blog home page.

6. Install the Google XML Sitemaps plugin.

Submitting sitemaps will help to ensure that Google or other search engines index all the posts and pages of your WordPress blog. You can use the Google XML Sitemaps plugin to create a sitemap for your blog.

7. Add more links to your blog.

It is the best way to improve your ranking in the search engines. There are so many ways you can do this. For example, you can add links from other blogs, directory submission, and forum and so on.

This is the primary way for WordPress blog optimization. Try it! It will take more traffic to your blog and make that you can make more money by blogging.
